If you go for a body shot, try to get the whole body in the picture. The less bits missing from the shot, the wider the range of possibilities. On the same note, there's no need to crop any stock you've taken -- leave that up to the artist.
If you are going strictly for artistic effect with these and do not agree with #1, consider submitting them as deviations of your own. You could still let people use them for stock, if you wished.
Finally, if you're looking for poses, you might find cats to be a great inspiration. I'm not saying act like a cat, but just try some feline-type poses. I think the result would look great.
